I had the opportunity recently to visit Wild Things Soft Play Centre next to Stockport Rugby Club and sit with Mike Drew owner, and Manager Nita Tavakolli.

My first impression of the play centre was how clean and bright it was.  There was the obvious observation of many children happily playing in this safe, well construction SPI Play equipment, but the next thing that caught my attention was the ‘adult area’.

Wild Things

There are ample well laid out tables and chairs for the guardians of these little darlings to sit and enjoy a fresh coffee or tea.  If that isn’t good enough there is a menu of fresh food items available from breakfast onward.  Who would of thought of freshly made salads, homemade soups and chili, jacket potatoes, baguettes, panini’s, pizza and burgers at a children’s soft play centre?

To Nita

“The parents, grandparents, and child minders are just as important as the children.”

The entry fee for four and under is only 4.00 and five and older 5.00.  If you have a toddler/ baby under the age of two they are free, only if accompanied by an older paying sibling.  They also have a loyalty card where ever 10th visit is free!  There is no entry fee for accompanying adults.

Mike Drew who has been associated with Stockport Rugby Club since 1970 who in 2007 realised the opportunity to use the building as something other than Squash courts as the membership dwindled.  After a lot of renovation and thought they came up with the idea of Wild Things Soft Play Centre and opened the doors in 2011.  They provide the children lots of options of climbing, sliding, go through tunnels, or wherever their imaginations take them on the well-padded, safe and clean equipment.

Wild Things

They offer two hour children’s party packages for £10.99 per child.  All you need to do is show up with a minimum of ten children and a birthday cake and themed serviettes and leave the rest to Nita and her friendly team.  They will provide party bags, food, unlimited jugs of juice (let’s face it playing is thirsty work) and ice cream.  The best thing is you leave the mess behind with them AND they only charge for the children that show up.  If you would like the exclusivity of the centre that is also available for an additional price. Both packages do require a deposit.

If you are looking for a way to run off that after school energy they have After School Meal Deals.  The children will receive hot food, a jug of juice and two hours of play time for only 7.00.  There is the option for the adults to eat as well.

Keep a look out for some of the extra activities that happen at Wild Things.  There is the ever-popular Boogie Beat music and movement pre-school classes every Tuesday at 11:15. They introduce your child to the joys of music and dance from an early age. On Wednesday at 11:30 for children 1-5 years of age they offer Theatre Tots.  Through drama, songs, stories, movement, puppets and fun they offer an environment that will boost confidence, creativity and encourage imaginations to flourish.
