Local community portal ILoveBramhall.com is celebrating a very special day today as we turn six years old!
As many of our readers know, we usually mark birthdays by pulling out all the stops, but 2019 is a more of a sombre celebration as Founder Wendy recovers from a recent operation and the loss of her beloved dog and local celebrity pooch, Darcey.
We are planning a belated birthday party for the first quarter of 2020 but in the meantime, having a bit of quiet time to reflect has given us pause to consider what 2019 held for I Love Bramhall. We’ve organised some fantastic community events, welcomed some amazing new businesses and continued to promote everything that’s great about our village.
Over on social media, we’ve accrued almost 13,000 followers on Facebook, 5,863 on Twitter, 2,412 on Instagram and another 1,275 on LinkedIn – remarkable numbers, all in all, for what started out as a little local brand yet continues to grow beyond our wildest dreams!
Highlights of 2019
The past year has been as eventful as ever, with plenty to keep us busy. Annual event Paws and Play in the Park was a big hit once again over the May bank holiday, attracting thousands of visitors – including more than 250 dogs – to Lumb Lane Park for a day filled with family fun.
The Big Free Bramhall Tea Party took place for the sixth year at St Michael and All Angels Parish Church in July, welcoming more than 300 of Bramhall’s older residents who were treated to an afternoon of sunshine, music and delicious food.
Later in the month we were left almost under water by flash flooding while in August, Eds Hair brought Pride with a Brazilian flavour to Bramhall via a fun celebratory event that we hope becomes a regular fixture in the local calendar!
August also saw an especially pawesome birthday celebration at The Bubble Room for Darcey the dog, while residents lined the streets in September when the UK’s most prestigious cycle race – the Tour of Britain – passed through the village in a spectacular display of endurance.
New Bramhall businesses
The village welcomed some new businesses in 2019 and we were delighted to sign them up to the I Love Bramhall directory.
Women’s clothing and lifestyle boutique Caro was among our signups for 2019, as was the Bramhall branch of education brand Mathnasium, family footwear business Arnouts and professional nailcare and beauty salon Bramhall Nails.
As a community portal, we pride ourselves on welcoming new businesses to Bramhall, helping them settle in and keeping residents and visitors up to date on all the latest business news.
Founder Wendy Green commented:
“I Love Bramhall was established six years ago to provide news, information and entertainment for the people of Bramhall, as well as visitors and groups. We work on behalf of local people, organisations and businesses to support the community in so many ways, from helping reunite lost dogs and belongings with their owners and putting out neighbourhood alerts to organising events to raise funds for vital causes.
“Hundreds of thousands of visitors use ILovebramhall.com to find out more about the village, local events, businesses and more – we’re passionate about community here at I Love Bramhall and fully intent on supporting our local community for many years to come. We can’t wait to see what the future holds for I Love Bramhall as we move into our seventh year.”
