It’s been 24 years since Romulus one of our best-loved Italian restaurant, opened in the village. In that time, owner Salvatore Fattoruso has carved out a reputation for authentic Italian food, friendship and second-to-none service with a smile. I Love Bramhall dropped in to learn more about his secrets to success.

A warm welcome awaits visitors to Romulus – everyone is greeted on arrival by Salvatore or a member of staff and made to feel at home.

Romulus

Romulus’ simple, unpretentious decor is a breath of fresh air for many of us who have become accustomed to the modern all-singing, all-dancing eateries that continue to pop up each year and ultimately fail to stand the test of time. What’s clear is that Romulus prioritises.

It’s their reputation for friendly service, competitive prices and delicious, traditionally cooked meals that has helped Romulus maintain a loyal following over the past two and a half decades.

Romulus

Romulus prefer not to shout about what they do on social media but they haven’t completely escaped the phenomenon. Diners are so impressed with Romulus that a Facebook page has been generated by their many favourable mentions online. The saying goes that your customers do your promotion for you, and in Romulus’ case, it’s absolutely true.

Romulus

Open seven a nights a week – closing only for Sunday and Monday lunchtime – Romulus has an extensive menu, great value deals for early diners and an ever-changing array of specials, all cooked authentically with fresh local ingredients and Italian imports. Favourites from the menu include the penne with smoked salmon and crayfish, and the excellent value fillet steak, served with all the trimmings for just £24.50.

Salvatore’s vision was for a restaurant that would become somewhere people wanted to go to enjoy themselves, much as tourists visit Rome for the whole experience of good food, wine and friendship. Whereas other eateries may be sophisticated and serious, Salvatore wanted to create a relaxed, easy-going atmosphere – somewhere truly Italian.

With his long experience and passion Salvatore put all his effort into creating a typical Roman scene right here in Bramhall.

A vital part of our business community, Romulus is also big on giving back and regularly hands out raffle prizes for our local schools. With the I Love Bramhall birthday party last week, they were also kind enough to donate a complimentary lunch for two for our charity raffle – we’ll be stocking up on tickets!

As well as the ILB team, the restaurant welcomes everyone from couples and families, to famous footballers. Along with residents who have been visiting the restaurant since it opened, Romulus is serving more and more new faces, and the staff are enjoying watching the community grow as more people move into the village.
