Family friendly Headlander Festival drew music fans to the grounds of Stockport Rugby Club for another weekend of music and festival fun on Sunday 21 June. Despite the drizzle and wind, contestants turned up with their families and friends for the Headlander Open Mic Competition supported by ilovebramhall.com.
The audience was treated to four hours of unrecognised talent in the area, with an age range of 12 to 24 years old, all wanting to win the title plus these fabulous prizes; Studio recording time with Dan Broad Music Productions, Bluetooth speaker from Richer Sounds, £100 vouchers from Fab Music and an HD music video of their winning performance from Channel MBC
As in previous years, the standard of contestants was very high in the Open Mic Competiton with the following contestants battled it out:
All the acts performed well, with a lot of potential in each and every act. There were great vocals and good stage presence, some contestants were singing original songs and playing their own instruments.
A big thank you needs to go out to the judge and sound engineer Mike Chisholm from Artistic Echoes and Transmission X Radio, who was battling with the wind, rain, missing leads and microphones but took it all in his stride and pulled the whole event together.

The winner on the day was the talented and very original Kimmy Beatbox. 21 year old Kimmy Lawrence from Bramhall wowed the judges with eight minutes of incredible beatboxing. Very close runners up were the talented Alex Lees and Miss Jenem.
