A good hairdresser is hard to come by but luckily, in Bramhall, we have some real hair heroes – the latest addition being Francesco Group on Bramhall Lane South. Delivering a truly personalised, attentive service in super stylish spa-like surroundings, Francesco has already earned itself a glowing reputation in the six months since the salon opened.
Salon director and hairdresser of 18 years Mark Izzard has carved out an illustrious career as a session stylist for fashion, TV and film, creating beautiful ‘dos for the likes of Kim Cattrall, Michelle Keegan and Helen Flanagan. Moving up to Manchester from London 11 years ago, Mark was keen to establish himself in a thriving community – and when he visited Bramhall it was love at first sight.
On his initial visit to the village, someone handed Mark their car parking ticket with some time remaining. It was a simple gesture but one that Mark hasn’t forgotten – a clear sign of community spirit and exactly what Mark was looking for. Struck by the vibrancy of the community, our friendly residents, the array of independent retailers and the supportive nature of our local businesses, Mark made an almost instant decision to establish his base in Bramhall – and he hasn’t looked back.
Francesco Group is an award-winning chain of salons but Mark is determined to ensure the success of the Bramhall branch on its own merits. So far, so good – the salon may be a franchise but it certainly doesn’t feel like one. Spacious, airy and contemporary with a separate backwash area to promote relaxation, the salon is served by warm, friendly staff who greet all visitors pleasantly, offering customers a speciality coffee and service with a smile.
Welcoming a diverse clientele, Francesco has an appeal that spans the generations. Entire families have their hair styled here – mums, grandmas, children – likewise, the salon caters for busy businessmen and women, older residents, ladies looking for the perfect party style and everyone in between.
The private area at the back of the salon – a multifunctional space with its own facilities and even a massage chair – is reserved for clients who appreciate privacy, including alopecia and cancer patients, actors and customers whose faith requires them to be separate from the opposite sex. The space can also be used for special experiences, like mother and daughter sessions.
Mark prides himself on providing a tailored experience that is personal for each client and that consistently exceeds expectations. It’s this desire to go the extra mile that keeps customers coming back and that has cemented Francesco’s position as an asset to the village’s business network. Mark is also committed to the community; the salon regularly donates prizes for local school fairs and had a pop-up free barber service at the annual Big Bramhall Tea Party event and more recently offered children’s braiding services at Light Up Bramhall.
Looking to the future, there are big plans in store for Francesco. Currently completing his training in Afro Caribbean hairstyles with award-winning specialist hairdresser Michelle Thompson, Mark hopes to both broaden his repertoire and bring new customers to Bramhall. The salon also plans to add disabled access to better serve clients in the near future; until then, at-home services are offered to ensure that everyone can enjoy the Francesco experience.
Additionally, the wheels are in motion to transform the unused upstairs space into a dedicated beauty salon, offering a wide range of top-quality services including nails, aesthetics and minor surgical procedures that will complement Francesco’s model of personalised expertise.
Our resident writer Francesca Newton will be heading to Francesco’s for a hair makeover in the coming weeks – keep an eye on our website to read about her experiences. In the meantime, learn more about Francesco Group Bramhall:
