The fifth Bramhall’s Got Talent competition was won this year by Rebekah Schawsmidth from Reddish. She wowed the crowd with her rendition of ‘I Know Where I’ve Been’, from the musical Hairspray, and took the top prize of £500 which she plans to spend on driving lessons.
The popular annual competition took place this year on 7th October in Bramhall village and was judged by a number of people including Mayor of Stockport Linda Holt, Conservative MP for Stockport Mary Robinson and Emmerdale actor Liam Fox.
The rain didn’t dampen spirits on the day, with a big turnout to support over 40 contestants including singers, musicians, Irish dancing, karate, a ventriloquist, a dance group and a poet.
“I’m over the moon and extremely grateful that I won. I sang really early in the day so it was worth staying around all day to hear the results. I wanted to do it all over again!” commented Rebekah.
Chairman,Roger Prydderch says,
“It’s amazing how much talent we have in and around Stockport and great to see a wide range of acts on stage this year – it takes a lot of courage to stand up and perform in front of a big crowd, and all the performances were fantastic.”
Second prize went to singer Elise Campbell from Bramhall, 3rd prize to singer Alice Robinson from Sale and this year’s special recognition prize went to brother and sister act Rocke and Tiger McLaren.
